There’s no doubt that communicating with your alumni (especially recent grads) on social media is effective. Alumni are already familiar with their alma mater, but they may lose their immediate connection once they have graduated. Keeping you alumni community engaged on your institution’s social media channels helps connect them to your institution, while keeping them in touch with fellow alumni. Connect with alumni on social media and you will engage with them on platforms where they already spend time.

The CASE Library frequently receives questions on special events, particularly on best practices for planning and executing an event and on measuring event success. In light of these requests, we have developed this resource collection with accompanying sample materials.

The Notre Dame University Alumni Association in Indiana, U.S., hosted its first Global Day of Service in 2023—drawing more than 3,500 volunteers for projects in 26 countries.

The sample collection has material pulled from CASE collections and supplemented with samples graciously contributed by conference faculty and attendees. 

There may be no better group of supporters than alumni. Alumni know their alma mater and have benefited the most from your institutional offerings—education and social connections. They’ve formed relationships with each other and your faculty and staff. They have a life-long affinity for your school, making them a prime group for successful fundraising. 

In August 2020, the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, launched ChangeMakers, a strategy to encourage UQ’s alumni across 190 countries to engage with the university and fellow alumni from anywhere in the world. The ChangeMakers alumni community hosts events, fosters mentorship relationships, and encourages volunteerism. More than 70 alumni have become ambassadors to help spread the word.

The CASE Library has developed a resource collection to assist advancement professionals looking to create or rebuild their annual homecomings and reunions. The collection offers information on planning and promoting homecoming and reunion initiatives.

When scrolling through Instagram, alumni might expect to see typical images on their alma mater's feed: scenic vistas of the quad, graduation caps, lattes from the campus coffee shop.

The CASE Library maintains this collection of alumni volunteer samples for all members. Samples are arranged alphabetically by institution name.

Rates of mental health issues among college students have been rising for a nearly a decade—made worse by the pandemic. Now, more colleges and universities are discussing, focusing on, and prioritizing mental health initiatives.
